Turnip roots are used as a choleretic tool against gallstones when the relevant bladder starts to re-inflame, as well as to facilitate the digestion of food. The active substances (materials) of the turnip, after being absorbed by the digestive tract, easily irritate the liver and in this way, increase the flow of bile. These substances, in small doses, stimulate the production of bile in the liver and, as a result, increase inflammation, therefore they are not applied in high doses, when the liver is damaged. In gallstones, turnip is advised only for a certain time and in small doses.
