
The largest and most beautiful cistern of the ancient Balkans is discovered in Albania
The well-known archaeologist, Neritan Ceka, reveals a project of the Institute of Archaeology, which has been ongoing for three years.
For the journalist of News24 and BalkanWeb, Fatmira Nikolla, the archaeologist Ceka points out that it is about a project in Bylys, which is uncovering a water cistern, which stored the waters of the stairwell of the third century BC.
As the archaeologist points out, the cistern is 50 meters long and 8 meters deep and was covered by a system of arches. According to Ceka, this is the largest and most beautiful cistern of the ancient Balkans of that period, including Greece.
Archaeologist Neritan Ceka himself announces that in addition to the excavation, its restoration is also being done, while also publishing images of the discovery on his “Facebook” page.
