The pink diamond is revealed! It was wanted for 26 years
It is pink in color and about 13 carats. This diamond is one of the rarest and most precious stones ever found in the world. It was found in Australia in a Rio Tinto diamond mine in the Kimberley region and was named “Argyle Pink Jubilee”. A diamond of this caliber is unprecedented – said Josephine Johnson, of the Argyle Pink Diamonds division. “We have waited 26 years to mine a stone like this and we will hardly be able to find this kind of diamond again.”
The name of the stone is inspired by Queen Elizabeth’s diamond, a Williamson Pink (24 carats), which was given to the Queen on the occasion of her marriage to the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947. The Williamson Diamond was also found in Tanzania.
